Brake resistors are used to dissipate energy that is transferred back from the motor to the drive during regeneration – for example when stopping or slowing down high inertia loads. Each VFD that has a built-in braking transistor will have a recommended braking resistance in its user guide. Make sure brake resistor’s resistance (Ohms) is equal or greater than the recommended braking resistance value.
